Obituary of Kathy Parker
Katharina (Kathy) Parker passed away peacefully on February 26, 2021, at the Bethany Care Centre in Didsbury Alberta, at age 86.
Kathy was born near Hague Saskatchewan on September 8, 1934, and raised in Hague, in Coaldale, Alberta, and Shellbrook, Saskatchewan. Following school, she attended Business College in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, gaining a certificate of proficiency in the secretarial course in 1954. She then travelled to Uranium City, Saskatchewan, where she worked as a cook in the local hospital. While in Uranium City, she met Bill Parker and they married in 1956. In the years that followed, they raised their six children, moving from Uranium City to Didsbury, back to Uranium City, to Innisfail, Alberta and to Rorketon, Manitoba, before returning to Didsbury where they spent their remaining years. In addition to being a homemaker, Kathy worked alongside Bill for many years in their hardware store in Rorketon. Kathy also worked as a custodian at the Didsbury High School, before retiring.
Kathy and Bill loved to travel, and together travelled across Canada, and to England, Europe and Israel, where they were baptised in the Jordan River. Kathy also loved to garden, and to sketch and paint, with birds and flowers being among her favourite themes. But most of all, Kathy loved her family. She was never happier than to have her family gathered around for an occasion, where she would sit back, completely content to watch and listen to the chatter and the laughter, joining in – especially with the laughter.
Kathy drew great comfort from her faith. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle nature, her independence, strength and resilience, and especially for her ability to love unconditionally. She never, ever, had an unkind word or thought for anyone.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Maria Tenz, granddaughter Bethany Parker-Brown, sister Stella Bonik, brother Fredrick Tenz and by her loving husband William (Bill) Parker.
Kathy will be always loved and always remembered by her children, Miles (Vera), Rosemary (Maxx), Audrey (David), Howard (Amy), Donna (Allen) and Wesley (Amanda), and by her brother Henry (Marguerite).
She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Sarah, Megan, Caleb, Jordan (Naomi), Jessie (James), Katherine (Brent), Robert, Justin (Emily), Maxx and Shayauna, and great grandchildren Alexandra, Lilly, Rhiannon and Arianna. Kathy will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
With grateful hearts, the family would like to thank the caregivers and nursing staff at Bethany for their excellent care of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
In memory of Kathy, we ask you to please share an act of kindness. Donations in her name to River’s Edge, the Missionary Church Camp at Cremona, Alberta would also be appreciated.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Kathy
