Julie Baier was born in Mannville AB on October 16th, 1946. She passed away June 27, 2021, at the U of A Hospital, Edmonton AB. Julie grew up in Marwayne, AB and loved all that growing up in a small town entailed; Lea Park Rodeo, curling bonspiels, hockey tournaments, and knowing everyone in town. Julie was blessed to maintain long-term friendships that started in her childhood especially with her best friend, Muriel Crowther who proceeded her in death.
Julie met her husband George through her future sister-in-law, Eva Reichert (nee Baier) when they were in the same LPN program. They married Oct. 21st, 1967. In 1968 they welcomed their daughter, Roxanne followed by their son, Anthony in 1970. Julie and George moved to Victoria BC in 1971 and spent several wonderful years filled with many wonderful memories. After moving back to Alberta in 1979, Julie enjoyed making memories with her family especially on numerous camping trips and the last 10+ years at Lesser Slave Lake with her lake family. In 1998 Julie and George were blessed with their beautiful granddaughter, Sinclair who brought such joy to Julie’s life. Julie worked as an LPN for many years in a variety of settings and went on to work as a lab technician and phlebotomist at Kasper Labs.
Julie was happiest when surrounded by her family whether it was camping at the lake or hanging around at home watching favorite movies….over and over and over again.
Julie loved music and in her younger days she and George cut a mean rug on the dance floor. Many a family car trips were filled with singing along to our favorite music. Julie had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She frequently got into fits of laughter with those around her, especially her mom Jessie, her daughter Roxanne, and her granddaughter Sinclair. She was a wonderful cook, and her baking was enjoyed by friends and family alike.
Julie was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2015 and survived 6 years cancer free with only 1 ½ lungs! Despite her many health issues, she also successfully dodged COVID-19.
