JOYCE MARIAN CHWARTACKI
After a lengthy illness, Joyce passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Pine Falls Hospital at 88 years of age.
Joyce joins her predeceased parents Rose (Zawacki) and Anthony, her baby sister, brothers Joe, Bill (Felicia), Ralph (Barbara), sister Mabel Zaborniak (Walter) and sister-in-law Jeanne. She is survived by her siblings, Mel, Tony (Vi), John (Joan), Rose Ann (Jim), sister-in law Adele, and her many nieces and nephews all of whom she cherished very much.
Joyce was born on August 13, 1933 in Winnipeg Beach. She often reminisced about the many fond memories she had of the early years spent there. She told many stories of the hard but yet very happy times growing up in a large family. She later moved to St. Andrews and then spent her last 50 years at her home in Selkirk. Joyce was extremely proud of both her home and yard and spent many happy hours maintaining both. She was an avid reader and enjoyed making special birthday cards for the family. Joyce worked for the Province of Manitoba in Winnipeg until her retirement in 1993.
Special thanks to Dr. Gendy and all the staff at Pine Falls Hospital for their compassionate care in Joyce’s final weeks. A special thank you to Georgina Rolof for her kindness and the generous amount of time she spent with Joyce.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
