Obituary
There will be no service for Joyce at this time.
Joyce Elizabeth Brakefield was born in Prince Albert, SK. to Ralph and Jean Brakefield on May 7, 1942. On November 28, 1959, she married Roland Lussier, and they raised their family, and made many memories together over the next 61 years.
Joyce was a hard working woman. She loved berry picking, canning, making jam and preserves that we would enjoy year round. She also enjoyed playing canasta and shmear, and you could be certain that she would cheat if you weren’t watching her closely. Joyce could also often be found quilting, or with a love story in hand, she loved to read. More than anything though, Joyce loved spending the day on the lake, fishing.
Joyce had quite the green thumb! She could revive any wilted plant and make it thrive once again. She even kept her geraniums all winter, and replanted them each spring. Her grandkids will forever cherish the memories of spending holidays with grandma, planting flowers.
Once the kids were all in school, Joyce discovered her calling as a caregiver. She would willingly accept kids with the most challenging disabilities, children that no one else was willing to take the effort to care for. She continued to accept foster children, giving them a safe and secure home for over thirty years, touching many lives.
Joyce leaves to carry on her legacy: her husband, Roland; her children, Brenda (Allan) Pilon, Cindy Lussier, Craig Lussier (Roxie), Robin (Mandy) Lussier, Kelly Lussier, Mark (Heidi) Lussier, and Stefanie Heathen (Mike); fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
