SHEARER, Joyce Elaine (nee Tucker) –
(March 24, 1935 – August 12, 2021)
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joyce Shearer, born in Whitby, Ontario. Joyce passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a brief illness at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Thursday, August 12, 2021. Joyce has gone to join her loving husband of almost 66 years Robert Shearer. Joyce was the beloved mother of (Late) Daniel (Late Cindy), Douglas (Teresa), Garry (Sherry), Deanna, Kimberly (Gordon). Cherished grandmother of Duncan, Phillip (Kathryn), Daniel (Hailey), Paul (Robin), Robbie (Michelle), (Late) Rian, Cassandra (Jay), Kelly and Deigan (Ariana) and great grandmother of Adam, Abigail, Stella, Ezekiel and Robert. Predeceased by her parents Harold and Helen Tucker and sister Shirley McGarry (nee Tucker). She will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law’s and brother-in-law, many nieces and nephews. Joyce retired from the Dr.J.O. Ruddy hospital and pursued her passion for golf, spending the winter months golfing with her husband in Florida. Joyce was devoted to her family and had many close friends who will never forget the wonderful times they shared together.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 11am-1pm at W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby, (905)668-3410. Funeral Service to follow on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 1pm in the chapel. Donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Cancer or Heart & Stroke Foundation.
