It is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and uncle; JORDON LAWRENCE ALEXANDER SMITH at the age of 28 years.
Jordon lived in Nipigon and Lake Helen Reserve most of his life, surrounded by his family and friends, nestled in nature and his culture. He spent most of his childhood and teenage years with cousins and friends outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish and trap and was well known for making offerings of such to all of the Elders in his community. He loved to run play and explore. One of his favourite games was playing “man tracker” all over the community. He had the best sense of humour and loved to tease and play practical jokes on everyone he knew, but especially his brothers and cousins.
Jordon will be forever cherished by all of us as the most polite, loyal, loving and protective member of our family, who would give the shirt off of his back so that one of his siblings or cousins were well taken care of. He was well known to our community as always having the best manners and kindness for even the littlest gestures. Jordon enjoyed his time as a junior member of the Lake Helen Volunteer Fire Department.
He is remembered for having a passion for animals and wildlife. Always trying to rescue and save the injured to return them back to the land.
Jordon is survived by his massive family. His mom Kirstine Smith (Kale Lesperance), his Dad Ron Metansinine (Andrea Hygaard), brothers Mathew, Darien Metansinine and step sisters Nicole and Ashley. His niece and nephews whom he adored Addison, Derek and Jackson-Grey. His grand parents Heather (Ben) Hephner, Sandy (Julie) Smith, his Aunts; Lindsey Wawia (Josh Hardy) and Kaila Copp (Todd Childs). As well as his cousins who were like siblings or nephews to him, Cheyenne Wawia (TJ), Savana Wawia(Dave) and Brandon Wawia (Raeanne), Leland and Jax. He will also be greatly missed by numerous other cousins, great aunts and uncles.
Jordon is predeceased by his great grandparents; the late Ruby and Lawrence Martin Sr. and Alex and Doris Smith and grandparents Annette Brisard and Victor Head.
