Obituary of John Anton Hinger
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather John Anton Hinger on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the age of 90. John was predeceased by daughter Mary (in infancy); sisters Ann Strecker (Phil) and Gerry Kellogg (Stan). He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Anne; children Calvin (Carol), Dwayne (Karen), Kim and Karlee; grandchildren Chelsea (Chad), Jeremy, Jarred, Tayler (Taenelle), Noah, Kyle; and great-grandchild Isabella.
Dad was born and raised on a farm near Odessa, SK. As a young man, dad came to Regina at which time he started his truck driving career at Motorways, where he worked for fifty years. Dad was a self-taught guitar player for many different bands throughout his life and you could find mom and dad many weekends at various venues around town, where dad played at various events. On weekends, when dad was not playing with the band, mom and dad could be found at a nearby campground enjoying the warm weather, scenery, time with family and sitting around the campfire with a rye in hand. Dad loved to watch his grandchildren play sports. He was a frequent cheerleader at many baseball and hockey games. He loved to cheer on the Riders and the Regina Pats. We will miss dad’s smiling face, positive attitude, and welcoming demeanour.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date, with interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation, in memoriam to a charity of your choosing.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de John
