John Mushinski passed away peacefully on December 2, 2021 in Regina, Saskatchewan at the age of 74 surrounded by loved ones. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with humour and a smile. Despite the pain, John stayed strong until the end.
John was born on January 14, 1947 in Carrot River, Saskatchewan where he attended school and was well known in the Carrot River area as an exceptional hockey player. He was a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and was a member of the Canadian Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (now known as the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada) where he was instrumental in establishing the national credentialing exam. John joined Saskatchewan Workers Compensation Board in 1974 and he retired in 2004.
John was predeceased by his parents William James Mushinski and Mary Mushinski (nee Popoff), his sister Emily and his brother Paul. He leaves behind his beloved son Oren and daughter Kasia; grandchildren Ayla, Hannah and Nicholas; his sisters Florence, Valerie, Lillian and Eva; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
