John James Boutilier

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of John James Boutilier at the age of 80. He was a loving companion, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Born in North Sydney on December 25, 1940, John was the son of the late John F. and Mary Boutilier of North Sydney. John worked for many years as a postal worker for Canada Post. John’s passion was music, singing and playing guitar for such notable local bands as the Rockin’ Saints and The Black Cats. He especially loved listening to Elvis and was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan.
He is survived by his companion Barb Maynard, his three sons Chris (Karen), Gary (Michelle) and Darren, his two grandchildren Brian and Sean and one great-grandson Everett
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his first wife Pauline (Stoodley) and his second wife Georgina (Gouthro).
Visitation for John will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A private family funeral service will be held on Wednesday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon David Lewis officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
Covid-19 restrictions will be in place with Proof of Vaccination, NS Government Photo ID and the wearing of masks when attending the visitation and funeral service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com .
