Joe “Gramps” Passante
March 26, 2021
December 16, 1951 – March 23, 2021
It is with profound sadness and disbelief that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad & Gramps on March 23, 2021.
He is survived by his loving daughter Leanne (Rob), son Joel (Amy) and their Mom Donna Passsante. He also leaves behind the greatest joys of his life: his grandchildren Nicholas, Grace, Bryant, Braxton and Ezra. He has also survived by siblings Tino (Judy), Frank, Lucy (Mike), Rose and Liz (Dave), plus numerous nieces and nephews. Special friends Hugh, Brett, Yogi, Harry, Bruce and Linda Case.
He was predeceased by his parents Liborio and Agatina, his in-laws Harry and Elsie Beyak and his brothers Sam and Peter Passante and Dennis Beyak.
Dad came to Canada when he was seven years old by boat and enjoyed life in the north end attending Tec Voc High School where he excelled and loved soccer. He started his career with the City of Winnipeg Emergency Water Works Department and worked there until he retired making many lifelong friends.
Dad was an active member of the Unicity Game & Fish Club spending many years sitting on the executive board. Their annual fishing trips and social events were something he looked forward to and loved dearly.
After retirement he and his daughter tackled many home renovation projects and one of the highlights of his life was the trip they all took to Niagara Falls to celebrate a renovation, he always talked about how much he loved that trip.
He was an avid fisherman, handyman and collector and loved nothing more than spending time with his family. His favourite times were coming out for dinners and BBQ’s always making sure to bring his left-over container. He always had a smile on his face and made everyone feel welcome; there was no one who didn’t love him. He made the best soups and cabbage rolls and anytime you needed them, consider it done. He would drop everything to come and help out, or just spend time chatting enjoying a coffee. He was quiet and adorable but was nosey and had to touch everything, it always made us laugh.
He loved being on the sidelines of Grace’s soccer games cheering his girls on, going for his dinner and movie nights with Nick or coming out to Lockport to Leanne’s where they would sit and talk for hours and just enjoy each others company.
The loss of him brings an unimaginable void that can never be filled. If you had the pleasure of knowing him you were lucky, he was one of a kind.
We would like to thank the incredible staff on 6A South at St Boniface Hospital, especially Annie and Shelly, you made Dad comfortable and we are thankful.
Flowers are gratefully declined and donations can be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at cpff.ca/get-involved/donate/
Dad, you left us far too soon, we are broken and sad but we will be ok. You became our way, and left behind an incredible legacy. Until we meet again, we love you to the moon and back, now go play soccer on the beach and catch a few master anglers.
The Funeral will be held at a later date when Covid restrictions are lifted.
Voyage Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Joe “Gramps Passante December 16 1951 – March 23 2021..
