Obituary of Joan Parsons
To love and to be loved is all we really need in this life. Joan Parsons (July 30, 1944 – May 20, 2021), predeceased by her favourite friend and partner, Tom Lawlor was loved and certainly gave love wholeheartedly to many people in her 76 years. Family was very important to Joan and being related by blood was not a prerequisite to be a part of her family circle. Of course, Joan’s closest circle included her sister Elaine (Derek) and their family, and her brother Lal (Sylvia) and their family, and they formed a bond that she showered with unconditional love on a regular basis. To be a part of Joan’s family was a blessing.
Joan may have not given birth to children of her own but many children were gifted with Joan’s embrace. She had a hand in making a lot of children feel very special. If you were lucky enough to be one of them, you know who you are.
She also frequently accepted furry family members and they certainly benefited from her generosity as much as those of us with less fur. It is with this in mind that we ask in lieu of flowers that you make donations to the SPCA or animal charity of your choice in Joan’s memory.
Joan was generous and she was kind. She loved to travel and soak up the sunshine. Her cabin in Spread Eagle was her favourite place to sit and enjoy the friendships she cultivated. May you remember her in your own special way and smile.
