Smith, James « Jimmy » Michael – 53, Leicester, passed away November 21st, 2021. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Wendell Smith and Joyce (Jackson) Carscadden. Jimmy was a 26-year beloved member of the Leicester Fire Department. He was a reliable hard worker an often did not leave until the job was done. Jimmy worked beside his father Wendell all his life. He grew passionate about farm life, including areas such as maple, blueberries and livestock. Jimmy’s favourite pastimes include attending firehall meetings, going for country drives that almost always led to Tim Horton’s, attending Amherst Ramblers hockey games, and in the fall, attending The Cumberland County Exhibition. He was very passionate when playing cards and board games with his friends and family. Jimmy was very much loved by his community. He was always willing to lend a hand when needed. His positive outlook and spirit were touched by many, he always had a smile on his face and a contagious laugh that will forever be treasured. He is survived by his partner, Diane Giesinger; stepchildren, Acadiana and Sienna Radford; stepmother, Gerry Smith; brothers, Allan (Tracey); Tim (Renee); sisters, Norma (Brent); Carolyn (Wayne); Julie (Jim); stepbrother, Jack (Debbie); sister-in-law, Terry; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by stepbrother; Michael; stepsister, Linda. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, November 25 with funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, November 26, both in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home. Proof of dual vaccination and government issued identification are required to attend the visitation and funeral service.
