It is with sadness that we take comfort in knowing our mother and father are now reunited in heaven.
In loving memory of Jeanne Rita Jakubo (nee Soucek), 70 years, who passed away peacefully with her son and daughter by her side on May 21st, 2021 at Finlandia Village, Sudbury. Beloved wife of Michael (Mike) P. Jakubo, predeceased in 2019. Jeanne was a loving mother to her children Jana (Mark Fritz) and Michael (Jody), and was a devoted Babi to her grandchildren Erik, Malik and Myla. Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Rita Soucek, she will also be remembered by her family in Czechia. Jeanne will be sadly missed by her sisters- and brothers-in-law Sister Mary Jakubo CSJ, Helen Huneault (Gilles) both predeceased, Anne Taus (Romano predeceased), Joseph (Joan) and Edward (Cathy). Also loved by many nieces and nephews, and their families, and is fondly remembered by her friends and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Jeanne was a strong woman who was devoted to her family, her work, her passions, and her faith with all her heart and soul. From her teenage years right through to retirement, Jeanne was a gymnast and coach with Sampo Rhythmic Gymnastics Club in Sudbury. The Sampo girls were Jeanne’s second family and Jeanne will be remembered fondly by the many gymnasts who she coached over the years. For more than 20 years, Jeanne worked in the Linen Department of Health Sciences North (Laurentian site) where she demonstrated her leadership and caring demeanor every day. Jeanne transitioned smoothly into retirement and enjoyed many winter months in Myrtle Beach where she and Mike made new friends and walked hand in hand along the beach. Later in life, Jeanne found her love for golfing. She was an active member of the ladies’ executive committee at Pinegrove Golf Course, and she enjoyed golfing on ladies’ nights. Jeanne was a woman of faith and a member of the Holy Redeemer Church. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was her utmost pleasure. There was nothing Jeanne loved more than preparing a meal or baking for her family. She always made sure her grandchildren were spoiled and they will never forget how much she loved them. She will be remembered for her wonderful veal schnitzel and potato salad, as well as her blueberry kuchen dessert.
We know that Jeanne is now at peace and that she will be watching over us like she always did in life.
We want to extend a special thanks to the staff at Finlandia Village who cared for Jeanne and helped us through this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion will always be remembered.
Due to COVID restrictions there will be no visitation or service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation at Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Finlandia SISU Charitable Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
