Though we are sad at the passing of our dear Shirley, her wish was that we celebrate with joy, the life she lived and that she is now able to join those who predeceased her – her husband Jim, sister Marjorie Blatchford, brother Lester Clements and other family and friends. She is survived by her step-daughter Shirley Mae Herrera, her niece Shirley Blatchford (Mike), nephews Doug Blatchford (Millie) and John Blatchford (Elaine), and her surrogate daughter Gisela Stieda (Brent). Shirley was born in Calgary and began work at the of age 18 for #11 Equipment Depot as a civilian worker for the RCAF. At the end of WW2, she took a job with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell Chartered Accountants. She married Jim Foord in 1950. They lived in Prince Albert, Calgary and Edmonton where she worked for the Foresters. Shirley and Jim moved to the Okanagan in 1957 where Shirley initially worked for the CPR in Merchandise Services before joining Jim at their company, Lumby Agencies. Shirley and Jim enjoyed traveling and went to many places including Trinidad, China and Australia. She even drove a truck and camper across Canada and back. After retirement, Shirley loved to spend time in her garden growing an abundance of fruits, vegetables and flowers. She also loved to swim and spent many summer days cooling off in Okanagan Lake. For the last 20 years, she has been a resident of the Victorian Retirement Residence. She was grateful for the staff, which created a kind, loving home. There will be no service. Shirley was a great believer in charity. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favourite charity, or one of her favourites – Doctors Without Borders, Operation Smile and Greenpeace.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Jean Shirley Foord June 16th 2021..
