It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Mae Hardy, 75, of Chester, and formerly of Lunenburg, announce her passing on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Shoreham Village in Chester.
Born in Lower Sackville, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Evelyn (Wamboldt) Hiltz.
Jean spent her working life at Highliner Seafoods for a number of years and later at the Royal Canadian Legion as the Bar Manager in Lunenburg. Jean was very active in her community and was involved in the Meals on Wheels program, St.John’s Anglican Church and the rhe Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #23, Lunenburg. She was particularly proud of her achievements with the Eastern Star, Grace Chapter #8, where she was awarded a lifetime membership. Until his passing, Jean loved to travel out west with her husband Don. She also enjoyed trips south with her sisters and friends.
Jean is survived by daughter, Patricia (George Goodwin) Tanners Settlement; son, Brian, Halifax; grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Jason, Stephen, Amanda, Matthew; as well as four great-grandchildren. She will be especially missed by her great-grandson Nicholas, who called her “nee”; sisters, Lilian (Robert) Zinck, Martin’s River, Barbara (Boyd) Conrad, Lillydale, Diane (Richard) Lowe, Western Shore, Janet (Dale) Browne, Mahone Bay; brothers, Bobby Hiltz, Martins River, Roger ( Carmen )Hiltz, Western Shore, George ( Jackie) Hiltz, Martins River, Kelly (Sharon) Hiltz, Martins River, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased her husband, Donald; daughter Joye; sisters, Sharon, Margaret; brother-in-law Ralph and sister-in-law Barbara.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A memorial service foe Jean will be held on Thursday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m. from St.John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg. Rev. Laura Marie Piotrowicz officiating. Interment to follow in Garden Lots Cemetery, Garden Lots.
Seating is limited, please call the funeral home at 902-634-3942 if you wish to attend. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination and masking will be required.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg or the recreation department of Shoreham Village, Chester, would be appreciated by the family.
