James Laurie « Jimmy » Viner
1955-2021
James Laurie « Jimmy » Viner,
of Kentville, formerly of Canning – age 66, passed away on
November 7, 2021 in Valley Hospice, Kentville. Born in Gibson Woods,
he was a son of the late Clifford « Manny » and
Marjorie Viner. Prior to retirement, Jimmy
worked for Hillaton Foods and Blueberry Acres. He was a loving, king
hearted person, who would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed playing
cards and crib, loved dancing and music, and spending time with his
family. He was proudly known as Papa to his nieces, nephews and
grandbabies and he had a special nickname for everyone he
knew. Jimmy is survived by his partner, Shelly Gray, of
Kentville; sisters, Helen Viner of Toronto, Carolyn Smith of Dartmouth
and Patsy Davidson (Mark Pierce) of Canning; brothers, Clifford Jr.
(Sheila), Jack and Patrick (Elizabeth), all of Canning;
brother-in-law, Hector Johnston of Lower Sackville; many nieces,
nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers and extended
family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his
sister, Shirley Johnston; and brother-in-law, Simon
Smith. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with
Jimmy’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral
service. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer
Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
