ALGIE, James Hillock – passed away Dec 26, 2021.
Predeceased by his wife Nancy M. E. (Gray) Algie and daughter-in-law Nancy L. (Walther) Algie.
Survived by his children James Algie Jr, Gerald Algie (Monica Mellon), Julie Cottenie, Christine Mayled (Dan Green); 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and dear friend Millie. He is also survived by his sister Virginia Gould (Ron) and brother Roger Algie (Margo).
He loved life, music, travelling and meeting people. In his early years he was active in sports, socializing, farming and trying anything new that came his way. Jim worked hard and played even harder. Born in Brampton into a comfortable society, he chose to move away from the city and make a life in the country with his family, fulfilling his dream of being a farmer and living the rural lifestyle. After retiring from dairy farming, he and his wife spent their time between Ontario and Florida, golfing and playing music. Precovid, he spent his winters in Arizona where he found more friends to “make noise with”. He became a gardener with garlic being a special crop for him. His golden years were spent jamming and entertaining audiences with his musical talent and comedic tunes.
A life well lived. He will be missed.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to London Health Sciences Centre Foundation, Stratford General Hospital, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation by calling the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock, N0B 2R0 (519-655-2431)
