It is with great sadness that the family of James (Jim) Ford announces his passing on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at the age of 83 years at Pleasant View Towers in St. John’s.
Jim will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his wife of 56 years, Daisy and his children, Carole-Anne (Harco), Juanita, David (Trina). He will also be fondly remembered by his two grandchildren, Juliana and Spencer, by his sisters, Lillian Burke, Yvonne (Evan) Steele, his sister-in-law Lillian (Bill) Tetzlaff, brothers-in-law Hazen (Jane) Janes and Jim Moss. Also, a large number of nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Goward and Gladys Ford, his first born daughter who watches over us, his father and mother-in-law George and Vivian Janes, his brothers-in-law Leo Burke, Calvin (Joan) Janes and David Janes, his sisters-in-law Maxine Moss and Myra Jefferies.
Jim worked at Newfoundland Light and Power for many years, but continued to work and volunteer in the community after he retired. He was a quiet man who believed in hard work and service to others. He was an avid outdoorsman, gardener and woodworker just to name a few of his passions. He dedicated over 45 years of service to Lions Club International. He was actively involved in the Roman Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus in every community he lived in.
Cremation has taken place and plans will be made at later date for a celebration of his life where he was most happy at home in Glenwood/Appleton.
A special thank you to all of the staff of Unit 3 Southwest of Pleasant View Towers for the care given during his final days as well to the staff of Cambridge Estates, who cared for him and continue to care for his wife Daisy. It is very much appreciated by his family.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to St. John’s Health Care Lions Club, Mary Queen of Peace food bank or your local food bank. (These organizations were very close to his heart.)
