We’re disappointed to announce the passing of Jacqueline (Jackie) Mary (Bowie) Jardine of Miramichi, which occurred at Bridgeview Hall on December 25, 2021, following a lengthy bout with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 65. Born in Chatham on August 7, 1956, Jackie was the daughter of John (Jack) and Irene Bowie, of Oak Point.
Jackie is survived by her beloved daughter, Karla Breau, of Miramichi, who will miss her warm laugh and generous hugs. Karla always appreciated that Jackie was comfortable in nearly any situation, and that she liked to be the life of any party or gathering.
She was predeceased by her late husband, Arthur Jardine, as well as their late daughter, Crystal (Crissy) Leigh Jardine. Her brother Alexander (Sandy) Bowie, and sisters Lynn Burns and Debby Frost, also passed before her.
Jackie leaves behind her brother, Chuck Bowie (Lois Williams) of Fredericton, her brother Bill Bowie (Shirley English Bowie) of Miramichi, and her sister Dorothea Mitchell (Lee Mitchell) of New Maryland.
Anyone who met Jackie would remember her big personality. She was always quick to laugh, to joke, to tell a story or two. She loved being with people, and hearing about what they loved to do, or about the experiences that made them who they were.
For years, Jackie worked as an administrative assistant for local physicians, helping to book people’s appointments or sort out prescriptions.
She was an excellent cook and baker, who came up with her own award-winning fried chicken recipe long before there were any instructional videos on YouTube. And there was a time years ago that she would design custom birthday cakes for the children in her life – intricate cakes that depicted Superman or Batman or whatever the child wanted for their birthday celebrations.
She could also be a talented amateur makeup artist around Halloween. If a child was gearing up for a trick-or-treating adventure, it may have been Jackie that helped them transform into creepy ghosts, goblins or vampires.
She was also a beautiful singer, one who could deliver soaring vocals of the House of the Rising Sun, Me and Bobby McGee or Frank Mills. Her family can remember many happy occasions where Jackie would sing along while her brothers or nephews played guitar.
In recent years, as Jackie’s memory degraded, she was happiest taking a walk through her nursing home, or chatting with fellow patients, staff or visitors.
She’ll be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A graveside interment will take place at a later time.
As expressions of sympathy, in Jackie’s memory donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice. Messages of condolence for the family can be sent through the funeral home website www.bellsmeadows.com
