Obituary of Jack Clark
In his 92nd year, passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital on November 29, 2021, with his wife, Joan, and daughter, Peggy, at his side. Jack was the beloved husband of Joan Clark and loving father of daughters, Debra Hrushka, Sheryl Best, Lori Cameron and Peggy Clark. He was Grandpa or Grandpa Jack to seven grandchildren, Merilla Clement (Patrick Smith), Heather (Rob) Susko, Lisa (Leon) Danis, Erin Clark, Andrew Clark, Ryan Clark and Jaret Seguin, three great grandchildren, Beau (Halley) Murray, Desiree Giroux, Montana Corbeil (Matt Turgeon) and Chianne Corbeil and two great-great grandchildren, Rowan and Oliver.
Jack was born and raised in Waterford and could often be seen riding his bike with his buddies from Waterford to Port Dover for a hotdog on the Boardwalk.
Following his retirement from the military in the Navy and Air Force in 1973, Jack went on to retire in 1993 from the Ministry of Transportation. In “retirement” Jack was a long time active member of the “Y” Heart Group and the RCAFA (427 London Wing), being President for two years, Past President for several years, and a dedicated Liaison Officer to the six cadet Squadrons in the area for several years.
Jack was a wonderful husband (39 years) and father and always enjoyed family get-togethers. Over the years Jack and Joan spent many memorable times with the Mallett clan in the Maritimes, travelling Canada coast to coast, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and parts of the US. He had a great passion for sports that included sailing, motorcycling, skiing, rooting for the Leafs and the Blue Jays and he was always ready for a game of cards. He continued to do the daily puzzles and play Spider Solitaire until the time of his death.
Jack was predeceased by his parents John and Ellen Clark of Waterford, infant Brother Ronald, sisters Joyce McCoy (Stewart), Irene Pamplin (Orrie) and Barbara Burrows (Dave), infant grandson, Yvonne, son-in-law, Harry Hrushka, brother-in-law, Ralph Mallett and his wife Georgie, and Lola Nesseth, mother of his children. Jack will be greatly missed by family, friends, nieces, nephews and Joan’s brothers, Garth (Nell) Mallett, Deryck (Ann) Mallett and their families in PEI and Nova Scotia.
Jack had been in failing health for the past couple of years, having dementia and kidney and heart problems, but he still continued to have his great sense of humor through it all.
Special thanks to the PSWs at the VON, Ultima Care, At Your Service For Seniors, the Palliative Care Unit at Victoria Hospital, and friend Margaret Knip for their caring support. Memorial donations to the 427 London Wing (Crumlin Side Rd), Alzheimer Society, Heart and Stroke, Kidney Foundation, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
