Obituary of Jack Carbert
Carbert, Rev. John Ross (Jack)
It is with great sadness, but with a deep sense of appreciation, that the family announces the death of Reverend Jack Carbert in his 89th year. Beloved and devoted husband of Deanna (nee Davie) for 60 years. Loving father of Paul Carbert (Mary), Michael Carbert (Emalinda Tolentino), and Anne Carbert (Don Washburn). Cherished grandfather of Daniella and John. The son of the late Helen and Frank Carbert, dear brother of Helen Reid (late John), and brother-in-law of Dawn and John Myers. He leaves a legacy of love, generosity, and gratitude. After a three year teaching career, he completed his Arts and Divinity degrees and was ordained as minister in the United Church of Canada. He served in many pastoral charges in Ontario and as interim minister in Whitehorse and Yellowknife. His interests were varied in a long and enjoyable retirement. His great love of music was reflected by his many years with the St. Paul’s United Church choir. We will miss his humour, knowledge and comforting, calm presence. He will continue to be a light in our lives.
The family gratefully acknowledges the skill of the medical teams in Orillia and at St. Joseph’s in Toronto. Appreciation also for all acts of kindness and generosity of spirit by so many, and for the welcoming atmosphere of Mariposa House.
Memorial Service to be held at St. Paul’s United Church, December 17th at 2 pm (with limited seating), and will be live-streamed on the St. Paul’s Orillia YouTube channel. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s, or to the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada, through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St. East, Orillia. Please, no flowers. Messages of condolence are welcomed at www.simcoefuneralhome.ca.
