The family of Jack Vaclav is saddened to announce his passing on April 20th, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born in Fort William, Ontario February 11th, 1937 to Elizabeth (Mayer) and John Vaclav. Together Elizabeth and first-born Jack rode the PD Railroad train home to Round Lake, Ontario where they resided at Russ McKechnie’s sawmill property until the family moved to Harstone, Ontario. His farming way of life began when he was about 6 years old and he carried on farming until health prevented, although he was still haying in his dreams until he passed from this life. Jack also experienced other occupations in his lifetime – a bush worker at McKechnie’s sawmill, a fireman for the CN Railroad, truck driver for CP Bulk Systems, and equipment operator for O’Connor Township. He was known to many as being knowledgeable, quick witted, and a man with a huge heart and gigantic hands, and dearly loved by so many. Jack is survived by Maureen, his wife of 51 years, son David (Chris), children Max and Molly, son John (Linda Sawchuk), daughter Dawn Bagdonas (Tanas), daughter Yvonne DeBruyne (Dan Gudmundson), children Michaela, Adam (Ben), and Erin Whitney, Davidson and Zacchaeus, and daughter Valerie Dancer (Tom), children Josh (Vivian), Tomi, and Shanda Nickel (Andrew), children Aubrey and Cameron (great-grandchildren). Jack will be missed by extended family Charlaine, Charley, and Taiya Harvey. Also survived by his sisters, Helen Ross, Mary Cherwonick (Jim), brother Ed (Marilyn), and their families, four sister-in-laws and their families, and Rose – mother of his sons. Jack was predeceased by his son Michael, parents, mother and father-in-law, and four brother-in-laws and other family members. If you choose, donations may be made in Jack’s memory to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rural Cupboard Food Bank, or charity of your choice. Service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street at Cameron.
