Peacefully, at Bluewater Health, Sarnia on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021. John “Jack” Dolbear of Alvinston, passed away at the age of 85. Loving husband of Marilyn (nee Campbell) for 57 years. Cherished Father of Doug (Natalie) and Suzanne (Tony) Straatman. Loving Poppa of Megan Smith, Sara Straatman (Bradley), Carter (Aneissa), Clay (Mackenzie), and Kelsea (Neil). Proud G. Poppa of Jax Smith. Dear brother of Gail Dolbear (George), Nettie (late Bill Ellison). Predeceased by his parents Calvin and Dorothy Dolbear, his brothers Bill (Anne), Paul, Reg, and sister Mary Windel. Brother-in-law of Marilyn Campbell (late Keith) and Doug Campbell. Will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews as well as friends. Jack taught school for 34 years in London, Brooke Central, Wyoming and Watford. Upon retirement in 1990, he was able to pursue his love of farming, hunting, collecting historical items, reading, watching his grandchildren grow and participate in their sport activities in which they excelled. He never missed a game! Jack was on the first minor hockey team in Alvinston (Midget age) in 1952 and cherished all of the friendships he made in sports over the years through his pitching in London and Bluewater Fastball leagues (Alvinston Indians). He organized and ran a house league hockey for kids in the old Alvinston arena and continued to coach in organized minor hockey. He always remembered his school students and fellow team players following them in their life careers and accomplishments. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alvinston and Districts Optimist Club, Alvinston Legion Building Fund or Palliative Care Unit (Bluewater Health) would be very much appreciated.
