Obituary
Passed peacefully away, December 7th, 2021, at The Agnes Pratt Home, Irene May Collett (nee Benson), at the age of 82.
Pre-deceased by her parents Eric and Jessie Benson (nee Pearce) and in-laws Austin and Jessie Collett (nee Marshall), brothers-in-law George Collett, Michael White and Edward Hollett, sisters-in-law Marie Upshall (nee Collett), Molly Collett and Pasey Collett (nee Rossiter)
Leaving to mourn, her loving husband of 61 years, Frank; son, Stephen (Lisa), daughters Heather (Bob) and Barbara (Anshul); grandchildren Meghan (Garrett), Justin (Robyn), Michael (April), Amanda, and Paige; great-granddaughter Lyla; three loving sisters Barb, Joan and Judy; in-laws Charlie, Calvin (Vera), Lewis, Madonna, Irene (Dave) and Ron; special friend Shirley Castella and a large circle of extended family and friends.
Irene enjoyed a long career nursing at the SA Grace General Hospital case room and St. Luke’s Home. She was an active member of The Church of St. Mary the Virgin as a member of the ACW, the CLB Ladies Auxiliary and the church choir.
Many heart-felt thanks to the nursing and support staff of The Agnes Pratt Home, Fairhaven unit, for their wonderful and attentive care of Irene.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue with visitation on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral service to be held from The Church of St. Mary the Virgin on Saturday, December 11th at 2pm. As per government of NL regulation, proof of vaccination is required to attend. Interment to take place at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. The funeral service will be live streamed for those wishing to attend virtually.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene’s memory may be made to The Church of St. Mary the Virgin or to The Alzheimer’s Society of NL.
