Irene Janet Boomer
January 10, 1933 – January 30, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of their beautiful Irene Janet Boomer (nee Bailer/Chase) on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the age of 88 years. Irene was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta to loving parents, John and Wanda Bailer. Irene and her nine siblings shared a beautiful bond that lasted a lifetime. She married Ronald Chase of Ferintosh, Alberta and they were married for twenty-six years before Ron’s sudden passing, in 1979. In 1983, Irene married Allan and they shared a wonderful life together. Allan tried, unsuccessfully, to get Irene interested in his favourite sport, golfing. That worked out fine, because Allan was not too fond of her favourite pastime, shopping, especially for shoes! Irene also enjoyed reading, cooking/baking and visiting with friends and relatives. She also loved to travel and was a frequent flier to Florida and the State of New York, to visit Cathy and family; sometimes staying for extended periods of time, and having to buy extra luggage for her return flight home.
Irene will be sadly missed by her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Allan Boomer, her beloved daughters and families, Terry Chase and Lynn Grant of Calgary, Alberta and their children, Taylor, Jason and Valerie; Cathy Moller and Randy Moller of Hillsboro Beach, Florida and their children, Jonathan, Logan and McKenna.
Irene also leaves behind Allan’s children and families; Vicki Swainson, Jim Boomer, Kirby (John) Boomer, and Cindi Thompson, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Irene will also be dearly missed by her sisters and brothers, Doris Jacobi, Marion (Jack) Smale, Jeneline Moan, Clarence (Yvonne) Bailer and Melvin (Fiona) Bailer and her sisters-in-law, Della Bailer, Darlene Bailer and Sharel Bonertz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Irene will also be very lovingly missed by her best friend of many years, Mabel Moller.
Irene was predeceased by her beloved first husband, Ron Chase; her mother and father, John and Wanda Bailer; a sister, Leona (Elmer) Feldberg; and her brothers, Elmer, Harvey and Leonard Bailer.
A Celebration of Irene’s Life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the caring Staff of Units 3300 and 3600 at Michener Extendicare in Red Deer.
Irene loved animals, big and small.
