Bianchi, Irene (nee Baldassi)
Irene passed away peacefully on March 14, 2021. She was born & lived her entire life in Hamilton, a city that she loved. Irene was happily married to her husband Silio (Red) for 50 years. He predeceased her in 2000. Irene was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was saddened by the loss of her daughter Nancy (2013), her husband Wayne O’Rourke (2019) and their son Michael (1991). Irene will be sadly missed her daughter Cathy & son-in-law Randy Densmore. Irene adored her grandchildren Katy O’Rourke, Emily (Matt) Kimber, Sara Densmore (Tony DiBenedetto), Natalie (Adam) Ziemiak and Denise Densmore. She was thrilled to become a greatgrandmother to Lidia Ziemiak. Irene was predeceased by her parents William and Anastasia Baldassi and all her siblings. Archie, Roy, Ann (DeRoches), Ado, Andy, Enzo and Louie. Irene will be missed by her sisters-in-law Bruna and Doreen. Irene was close to her brother-in-law Dr. Fernando Bianchi and was predeceased by sister-in-law Antoinette. Many nieces and nephews called her « Auntie Irene », a title she wore proudly. Irene grew up in the Barton/Sherman area of the city and loved to share stories of the neighbourhood. Irene was a skilled hairdresser. Later in life she worked as a receptionist, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She was an avid Tiger Cat fan and always enjoyed a good Grey Cup party. Irene and Red enjoyed travelling with their dear friends Mary and Angelo Evangelisto. They created many happy memories together. Some of the best family memories were created at Sauble Beach. Irene was a gracious host. The basement on 42nd street was the Venue for many family gatherings. The Venetian Club was an important part of Irene’s life. She always enjoyed spending time with her friends at « The Club ». Life was difficult for Irene at times, but she always faced the challenges with a smile on her face and a positive outlook. The past few years became more difficult, but again she faced it and never complained. Special thanks to the staff of Villa Italia and St. Peter’s Palliative Care Unit. They took good care of Irene when she could no longer care for herself. Irene always had good friends and neighbours. Too many to list. But a very special thank you to the Campbell family whose kindness was always appreciated. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Catherine of Siena Parish (Our Lady of Lourdes Site), on Thursday, March 18th, 2021 at 10a.m. There is a limit to the number of people who can attend the Funeral Mass, and all guests must RSVP on Irene’s tribute page at www.friscolanti.com. As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
