Obituary
Ida Marie (DiPersio) Lyle
1929-2021
Sydney Mines
Life is just a stepping- stone
A pause before we make it home
A simple place to rest and be
Until we reach eternity.
Everyone has a life journey,
A path to take with lots to see
God guides our steps along the way,
But we were never meant to stay.
The family of Ida Marie Lyle wishes to announce her peaceful passing on Nov 17, 2021.
Born Sept 11,1929 in Sydney Mines, NS. She was the daughter of the late Rosario and Secondina DiPersio.
Ida was a member of Holy Family Parish in Sydney Mines. She was a strong willed, determined, quiet, humble soul who loved to golf, dance and enjoyed the very simple pleasures in life. She had a loud, hardy laugh that would make you instantly smile when you were in her company.
Ida began her teaching career in 1949 in Notre Dame school. She later became Principle of St John’s
Jr High and then at St Johns Elementary where she retired in June 1984 after 35 years of teaching. Ida became a teacher to make a real difference in the lives of children, to share her love of learning and to help future generations shape our community.
Ida is survived by her much loved “Little Sister”, Sr. Anne DiPersio. Sr. Annes prayers guided Ida along the stepping- stones of life, straight into the arms of Jesus. Always making sure Ida knew how special and loved she was. A Sister is one of God’s greatest blessings, so Ida was certainly blessed. She was also survived by her Sister-in-laws, Violet DiPersio, Rose DiPersio and Bunnie DiPersio along with many special nieces and Nephews especially Alicia who made sure Ida lived the life she wanted to live.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband Alex, her sisters Mary and Doreen Latwaitis and brothers, Marino, Patrick, Hank, Bruno and Hector DiPersio and also a very special friend, John Cann.
At this time the family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the very kind, caring, compassionate CCAs of the Northside Homemakers and the Nursing staff of the VON. Our family is so grateful for the wonderful care you have given to Ida, for taking the time and patience to get to know her, for always listening and answering her questions, for your sing songs, and the many other ways you have made her days brighter and made her feel special and cared for.
There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at Holy Family Parish, Main Street, Sydney Mines on Wednesday, November 24,2021 at 11am with Father Fabian officiating

Ida’s journey has now ended,
Her spirit has ascended
Claiming the great reward
