Obituary of Howard Henry Shisler
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Howard Henry Shisler on July 30th at the Douglas Memorial Hospital in his 91st year. Howard is survived by his loving wife Sanija, brother Allan (late Joan), sister Marjorie (late Jack), and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Cecil and Annie, sister Helen and by his aunt Doris. Born in Humberstone, he has lived in the Port Colborne area all of his life. Howard worked in the family business, Shisler’s Refrigeration, with his father Cecil and brother Allan for many years. Howard and his wife Sanija enjoyed travel throughout their marriage, but always enjoyed returning to Port Colborne for get-togethers with family and friends. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for many years. Thank you to Dr. Scher and the wonderful caring nurses and staff at Douglas Memorial Palliative Care during his time in the hospital. The family is also grateful to all the friends at Gilead Manor, especially Leonard Chester for his incredible help and support for both Howard and Sanija these past months.
The family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday August 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service will follow in the Armstrong Chapel with Pastor Michael Meleg as celebrant. (Due to COVID restrictions, attendance will be monitored, gathering limits will be enforced and facemasks are required.) To view the service from home, a link will be made available Wednesday August 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. Please go to YouTube and type into the search bar – Armstrong Funeral Home & Chapel Port Colborne Howard Shisler Funeral Service, and you will be able to view the service. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or to the Niagara Health Foundation for Palliative Care at Douglas Memorial Hospital.
