It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather, Rudy Hopner, of Leduc AB on March 29, 2021. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 72 years, Lil, his son Bruce (Rita) Hopner, daughters Betty-Ann Thomson, Joan (Ollie) Meidinger, grandchildren Noll (Lisa) Hopner, Nicole (Owen) Hopley, Thomas Thomson, Dylan (Kiera) Meidinger, great-grandchildren Cody and Kaylee Hopner, Lauren and Jack Hopley.
Rudy was born in Edmonton, AB on June 23, 1926, the youngest of five children and the only son of Hans and Elizabeth Hopner. He grew up in what was know as “the flats” in Edmonton. Rudy became a plumber by trade and was a proud member of the UA Local 488 for over fifty years. Rudy married his best friend and partner Lily Feniak on February 10, 1949. Together they enjoyed a wonderful life together and made many friends in Leduc and area over the years. They enjoyed their family, fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, gardening, and entertaining friends. Rudy was always up for a good game of crib and it was well suited when his final day on earth was the 29th. Rudy will be well remembered and loved by his friends and family.
Due to Covid restrictions, no formal service is planned at this time.
