Obituary
Hervé Théophile Sarrazin
November 18 1934 – January 31st 2021
Lovingly knows as “Buckwheat”.
Like a rock thrown into the lake sending ripples outward dad’s quiet personality touched many lives.
Born in St Cyrille de Wendover, Quebec he left the family dairy farm as a young man to work on the Dew Line eventually relocating to North Bay in 1956 where he met mom and begin his painting career working for his father-in-law, Jos Lefebvre.
He recalled painting government buildings, homes and the construction of CFB North Bay. When pépère retired dad moved on to work for the Nipissing Parry Sound District School Board/Franco Nord maintaining area schools and as a janitor at l’École St Paul until his retirement. He was well known by teachers, students and families as “Mr Raisin”.
Dad’s passion was nature. He made many friends while camping, fishing and hunting. He also had a keen interest in the weather.
Dad’s stories were profound messages of life, love and work ethics. He will be remembered for his generosity, strength and courage. These values were important to him and he made sure to pass these down to his children and grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by his spouse of 62 years Aline (Lefebvre), children Diane (Marc) Dubeau, Monique (Luc Castonguay) Wilson, Roger (Jules Westgate), Carole (Jacques) Landry; grandsons Sylvain, Alexandre and Zacharie; step-granddaughters Jennifer and Melanie; siblings Jeannette, Eméline, Gisèle and Gilles; in-laws , numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Albéric and Marie-Laure (Jutras) and siblings, Lucienne, Albert, Excéline, Joseph, Albertine, Thérèse and Monique.
A very special thank you for their compassionate care to Dr Vaughan, Percival, Rappaport, the Emergency and Palliative Care hospital staff and paramedics.
