Obituary of Henry Jaaskelainen
With heartfelt sadness the family of Henry announces his unexpected passing at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the age of 69. Cherished and devoted father of Emma and Erikka Jaaskelainen. Special friend of Donna. Dear brother of Hannu (Claudia). Family member of Harry. Loved uncle of the late Christopher, Sheldon (Claire), Heidi (Victoria), Byron, Marshall, Rachel, Ileana, Kasimiro and Mateo. Great uncle of Annabella and Angus. Henry was a very talented carpenter who strived for perfection. He was a very intelligent man and growing up he was valedictorian at both his elementary and high school and later he made the deans list at Laurentian University where he obtained his degree in Marine Biology. He was very proud of his Finnish heritage and could speak fluent Finn. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his girls and cooking them dinner. Henry loved to cook and was named the designated chef for any get together or outing. He was a kind man with a gentle soul and will be missed by all who knew him. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the SAH Foundation or the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be greatly appreciated by the family, Henry was an animal lover and advocate for all…even spiders. A heartfelt thank you to the SAH Emergency Department and ICU for the care and compassion shown to our family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
