POTT; Henry William (Harry) ~ December 8, 1920 – February 6, 2021 ~ Peacefully on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at St. Joseph’s at Fleming, Peterborough. Harry was the eldest son of the late Edmund and Catherine Pott (nee Lincoln). He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Pott (formerly Howson/Northfold), his son Bradley William Pott and wife Marion Pott (nee McClung ). Harry is survived by his daughter Karen Free (Michael), Grandsons David Free (Amanda), Sean Free (Elizabeth ) and Great Grandsons Russell and Charlie. Dear brother of Dorothy R. Unrau (the late Wilhelm) and predeceased by his brothers Ellison C.E. Pott (the late Lucy), Wilfred T. Pott (the late Jesse), surviving spouse Jean Pott, Donald L. Pott (the late Evelyn), surviving spouse Dorothy “Deany” Pott and his sister, Violet C. Spence (the late Malcolm). He will be survived and missed by many nieces and nephews. Harry was a man of service. As the eldest son on the farm in rural Manitoba he was quite often called upon to care and provide for the family, as his father suffered the side affects of being mustard gassed in WW1. He then, in turn, served his county for four years in WW 11 with the Winnipeg Rifles. He returned home to farm for a few years and then moved to Peterborough, Ontario, where he became a handyman/carpenter and met his wife Dorothy. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of Canada, Community Living Peterborough, the Special Olympics, the Senior Olympics, fund raising for the Park and the wading pool on Hamilton Street. He spent many happy years leading the Happy Gang at St Giles Church in exercises and skits put on at social gatherings at the church. He also spent many hours at the Church helping out with the maintenance. His name is on the walk of Fame in Peterborough for all his volunteer work through the years. He will be missed by his family and his community. His family would like to thank the Staff on Creekside “B” at St. Joseph’s at Fleming for their kind and friendly care they gave to Harry in the past two years. He was content at St. Joseph’s and especially liked his mid morning and mid afternoon juice and cookies that were delivered to his room each day with a Cheery smile and greeting. Thank You.
