Henry Clay Glover
Glover, Henry Clay – Age 83, Truro. Henry Clay Glover passed away in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, NS on August 10, 2021, his 83rd birthday.
He was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina in 1938 to Bernice Brown. After serving in the United States Air Force, Henry moved to New York where he met Lois Johnson. The couple married and raised four children. They lived in Far Rockaway, Queens before moving to Massapequa, Long Island in 1972.
Henry joined the New York City Police Department in 1968. He proudly served 22 years before retiring at the rank of Detective Second Grade from the Homicide Bureau. During his tenure, he received numerous awards and department recognition for his investigative work. Henry was an avid fisher and poker player. After retiring, he enjoyed afternoons at the track or playing golf.
In 2010, Henry reunited with Truro native, Yvonne Faye Pennick and they married in May of 2011.
Henry was pre-deceased by his beloved mother and his sister, Jeanette. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne and his sisters, Lois Galloway, Carlsbad, CA and Rosetter Freeman, Rapid City, SD.
Henry also leaves behind his loving children, Doreen Glover, Secaucus, NJ, Danielle Schaefer, Nutley, NJ, Lynda Marmara, Smithtown, NY and Henry Clay Jr., Lindenhurst, NY and their respective spouses, Paul Schaefer, Milt Marmara and Kerry Glover.
He is also survived by his adored grandchildren, Tyler Cordey Glover, Paul William IV and Edward Ashby Schaefer, Sophia Grace Marmara, Rebecca Renee and Jayden Ray Glover as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends whom he considered family.
A Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 16th at 3 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Live webcasting of the service will begin at 2:58 pm (Atlantic Time) and is available along with online condolences by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
