Helen Joyce McKinnon – 97, Truro. The passing of
Helen Joyce MacKinnon occurred peacefully in her sleep at Cedarstone
Enhanced Care, Truro, her home for the past 20 years, on Thursday
morning, November 12, 2021. Born in Hilden, she was the daughter of
the late John and Letitia (Wharton) MacKinnon.
She spent most of her life in the family home on College
Road, Bible Hill. She was the last surviving member of her immediate
family, having been predeceased by her parents, her brother, Colin and
his wife, Pat.
Helen worked in several retail businesses, retiring from
Ryan’s IGA many years ago.
Special thanks are extended to her close friend, Carolyn
Croft, who visited regularly and shared many shopping trips around
Truro with her. Thank you also to the wonderful nursing staff and
caring support staff at Cedarstone Enhanced Care who treated Helen
with kindness and compassion.
All are welcome to attend a graveside interment service that
will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Terrace Hill
Cemetery, Kaulback Street, Truro, The Reverend Lori Ramsey
officiating. Please note that proof of double vaccination and photo
identification is required prior to entry to the cemetery, and masks
must be worn at all times; thank you for your co-operation and
understanding. If so desired, donations in Helen’s memory to
Cedarstone Enhanced Care (Recreation Department) or charity of choice
are welcomed.
