Helen Isaac
1942 – 2021
It is with a heavy heart that the family of Jessie ‘Helen’ Isaac announce her passing on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the age of 79 years. She is survived by her beloved partner, Bill Torok; children, Angela Isaac (Shawn) and Lori Isaac (David); grandchildren, Ayda, Isabella, Kai and Cameron and sisters, Kathleen Cassata and Wilma Reid (Philip). She was predeceased by her beloved parents, William and Annabelle Kyle; brother-in-law Russell Cassata, and nephew Layton Reid. Helen was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, where she graduated from Pictou Rural High School and attended nursing school at the Aberdeen Hospital. She then moved to Medicine Hat where she worked at the MHRH in Psychiatry. When her arthritis made it too difficult to nurse, Helen became a Day Home provider and was a second granny and a very special person to many of her children and their families. Early years, Helen loved playing cribbage with her dad, helping her mom in the kitchen at mealtime, picking wild berries in the yard of their family home and going to Melmerby Beach and Park Falls with her family. She also took up curling and bowling. Following in her mom’s footsteps and as young woman, Helen became a member (and served as past Noble Grand) of Wildey Rebekah Lodge in Medicine Hat. Card games with friends, monthly lunch dates with the ‘girls,’ time spent with family whether preparing for family suppers, enjoying a glass of wine, visiting the Pender’s Farm, or just quality time with her grandchildren were also highlights in her life. Bill and Helen were friends since 1969 and partners since 2004. Together they enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning/making pickles, watching curling & baseball (especially the Toronto Blue Jays), camping, time spent at the cabin and many good times with amazing friends. Every night before bed, Bill would say to Helen “one more hug and one more kiss’… they were truly soul mates. Helen was always giving to others and expected nothing in return. Her memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever loved! A Celebration of Helen’s life will take place at a later time.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Helen Isaac 1942 2021..
