Helen Ann (McCully) Taplin
1940-2021
Helen Ann (McCully)
Taplin – 80, Truro. It
is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Ann
(McCully) Taplin on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at The Dickson Centre,
VG Site, QEII, Halifax. She was surrounded by love and family and with
video chats from her grandchildren. Born in New Glasgow, she was a
daughter of the late Karl and Verna (Milligan) McCully.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Herb;
sons, Joe (Lana), Cole Harbour; Jim (Anna), Peace River, Alberta;
daughter she never had, Elaine, Moncton, New Brunswick. Her true
loves, who the sun rose and set on in her eyes, are granddaughters,
Jessica (Marcus), Melissa, Sarah, Janna, Hannah; step-granddaughter,
Chantal (Colan); great grandchildren, Ana-Rey and Marcus. Along with
her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Percy; sister,
Joyce.
Helen always lived life to the fullest and was an exceptional
friend to everyone that came into contact with her. Those who were
blessed by her kindness and love would never forget it, along with her
laughter that would fill a room with joy. Helen was a retired nurse
from the Intensive Care Unit at Colchester Regional Hospital in Truro.
This was her true calling in life; to take care of people was her love
and passion. She was also an avid skater, loved to bike around Truro,
was an exceptional seamstress and loved to do
needlepoints.
The family would truly like to thank Dr. Abdullah Qureshi and
the nursing staff, especially Emily, of the Leukemia Hematology 8A
floor of Centennial Building for their utmost care.
Due to COVID restrictions and Helen still being a nurse even
after her death, she requested no visitation to keep people safe.
Private family interment will be held at a later date in Robie Street
Cemetery when her granddaughters and family can travel to celebrate
her life. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that if you
wish to make a donation in Helen’s memory, please consider
the Leukemia Society of Canada.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of
condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Helen’s
obituary on-line and selecting « Send A Condolence »
at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
Helen always said to her
grandchildren,
« It is never
goodbye, just until we see each other
again. »
Love you, my beautiful
Wife, Mom and Grammy
