It is with deep sadness we announce that Tamara Heberlein-Heck of Leduc, AB has passed away at home surrounded by her family; a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and daughter. Tamara passed away at the age of 63 on June 12, 2021 after an 11 year battle with cancer. Tamara is survived by her loving family: husband of 43 years, Robert Heck; son James Heck (Tia) of Melbourne Beach, Florida; daughter Nina Heck (Devin) of Leduc, AB; grandchildren Scarlett, Katrina, Jensen and Saren; father Gunter Heberlein (93 years old) of Black Creek, BC. Tamara is predeceased by her mother Margaret Heberlein.
Tamara emigrated from Walsrode, Germany by ship in 1965 at the age of 7. She grew up in Coaldale, AB, married the love of her life, Robert, in 1977 and raised her children. She loved animals, especially dogs and horses. Tamara attended college and acquired her nursing attendant certificate through Norquest College (Edmonton) and graduated with honors. She worked at the University of Alberta Hospital (Edmonton) until being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2010. She will be missed by all.
The family would also like to extend a special thanks to her doctor, Dr. Nancy Zhu (Edmonton Kaye Clinic) and to her care team on 3A Unit (Kaye Clinic) and U of A Hospital (1C Unit), professional and compassionate people who took care of Tamara during her final battle with cancer.
A private Celebration of Life will be held, attended by immediate family members in Melbourne Beach, Florida at our son James’s home and a final goodbye will be said by spreading her ashes in the ocean.
It is requested that if memorial donations are being made, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society, specifically to the Neuroendocrine Tumors for finding a cure.
