It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dr. Reginald “Hearder” Butler announce his passing on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Corner Brook Long Term Care at the age of 94 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 71 years Louise (nee Royles); children: Robert (Lois) Butler, Point-Claire, Quebec, Heather Butler (Barry Mills), Pasadena, Merrill (Ted) McComb, Whitby, Ontario, Linda Carr (John Hiltz), Pasadena and Allan (Kathy) Butler, Ottawa, Ontario; grandchildren: Justin McComb, Whitby, Ontario and Alexander (Rebecca) Carr, Prince George, BC; sister-in-law Rowena Baker, Massachusetts, USA; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Rev. William and Gertrude Butler, sisters Doll (Erickson) Clark and Peg Hollett, brother Robert Butler. A special thank-you to Dr. Robert O’Driscoll, and the medical and support staff at Corner Brook Long Term Care, 1 North DVA Unit for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Monday, December 20 2-5 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 21 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street with the Very Rev. Catherine Short officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
