Harry Clarence Faulkner
June 4, 1944 – October 28, 2021
It is with broken hearts we say goodbye to a wonderful man who was loved by many. Harry Clarence Faulkner passed peacefully at the GB Cross Memorial Hospital on October 28, 2021 while surrounded by his wife Loraine, daughter Ann, niece Marilyn and best friend Fred Cuff.
Harry was 75 years old and suffered a courageous battle of COPD for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents Isaac John and Annie (Whiffen), his brothers Ray, Graham and Donald and his sisters Marilyn and Edna (Marsh).
Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his wife Loraine, his daughter Ann, his son Michael, sisters and brother-in-laws , nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends and his best friends Fred Cuff, Reg Parsons and Granville Best.
Harry was a good friend to many and served the residents of Bonavista in a volunteer capacity for most of his life.
He was recently recognized in the 50th House of Assembly and applauded for spending 30 years with Volunteer Fire Department, 7 of those years as Chief. He was a recipient of the Canada 125 Medial. Harry was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion from 1980 – present and served as the president for 4 of those years. Also, he was a member of the local Lion’s Club since 1968 and also served as president for some of those years. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets and served some of those years as a 2nd Lieutenant!
Harry taught Sunday School from 1965-1972, coached minor and senior hockey and served on many committees in the community.
As is written here, Harry Faulkner was a stalwart volunteer, one of his favorite was playing the role of Santa.
A special thanks to sister-in-law Shirley Parsons for always being there and the staff of ICU at GB Cross for their excellent care and understanding.
The cremation has already taken place and the family will receive visitors at Strathies’s Funeral Home in Bonavista on Wednesday, November 3rd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm
Also, a small graveside funeral with take place on Thursday.
