Stan Kettleson, passed away on the 29th day of December, 2021, at the age of 98 years, following a long battle with dementia. He will be dearly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Martin Cooperman.
He was born and raised in the town of Vulcan, Alberta, surrounded by a loving family. During the Second World War, Stan served in the RCAF and pursued training in Radio Servicing and Telecommunications.
While attending a dance in Calgary, Stan met the love of his life, June Neville, and they married in 1947. They had two daughters and spent 68 happy years together before June passed in 2015. Stan was also predeceased by his parents, Zella and Conrad, brother Jim, and oldest daughter Judy.
After working on the Alaska Highway for several years with Canadian National Telegraphs, Stan accepted a job with Alberta Government Telephones in Calgary. On loan to the Alberta Department of Education, he re-wrote course outlines and exams for the Telecommunications Apprenticeship Program, and taught at NAIT & SAIT. In total, he spent approximately 35 years in the field of communications. An industrious worker from a very young age, Stan continued that work ethic throughout his life.
Post-retirement, Stan and June enjoyed many wonderful holidays to Banff and Waterton with their trailer. He loved music and nature, and could do anything he put his mind to when it came to repairing and building.
Stan was a true gentleman, quiet & reserved, with a wonderful sense of humour. Much of his time was spent assisting family members and friends in any way he could, always putting others before himself. He loved his family dearly, and his daughters could not have asked for a better role model and father. A good and faithful man, he was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in a variety of callings.
We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the doctors, nurses & staff of the Chinook Care Centre for their kind and compassionate care over the years.
In accordance with Stan’s wishes, a public funeral service will not be held.
