Harold Glenwood « Dagwood »‘s Obituary
FRENCH RIVER – Harold Glenwood “Dagwood” Murray, 82, French River, passed away, Wednesday, January 27, 2021 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Great Village, he was a son of the late Loyde Garland and Margot Florence (Hanes) Murray. Dagwood was a member of the former French River Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed a varied career, having been employed as a pulp cutter, Shaw Brick Company, Weeks Construction, Department of Highways and Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline. Dagwood and his sons were members of the Nova Scotia Stock Car Association. When his sons were racing, he did every job from manager to pit crew member. However, his most important role was being dad. Dagwood was an avid fisherman and hunter. He and his wife, Pearl, shared many beautiful memories, especially of going to the fair and riding on the Ferris wheel. Dagwood’s love for his family will never be forgotton.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Pearl; children, Lynn, Glenn, Lawrence “Larry”, John “Kenny” and Victor; grandchildren, Chenise, Nakkela, Amber, Keegan, Riley, Jacob; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Edna and Marilyn, brothers, Garfield and Lloyd.
If desired, donations in memory of Dagwood may be made to his family.
Dagwood’s family will honour his life privately.
