Harold’s Obituary
Harold Donald Canning, long time resident of Peace River, passed away Friday, September 17, in Peace River at the age of 86 years. Harold Canning was born May 25, 1935 at home in Dixonville. Harold completed high school in Red Deer and his first job was as a surveyor. After a few years he moved to Peace River and drove for Canadian Coadchways bus lines for many years. It was here, he met a passenger, Irene, who became his love of 47 years. Then he started his trucking career and over the years drove for Old Dutch, Tony’s Truck Service, Brian Hinson and Borger Contracting. He also started his own trucking company. Hal Can Trucking, hauling gravel and for the oilfield all over the peace country. Some of his interests were golfing, curling, camping, traveling and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, always with Irene by his side. Predeceased by his brothers Clifford, Gordy and Howard. Survived by his three Children: Leslie (Wendy Diebert) Canning, Roxanne Borger, Daryl (Clara Pagnotta) Canning; eight grandchildren: Brittany (Marius) Lepage, Alynn (Cody) Mitchell, Rhena (Mark) Dennison, Jeanie Borger, Jim Northrop, David Canning, Megan (Ryan) Canning, Shawn Canning and five great grandchildren: Rylee and Maddison, Hudson and Anastasia and Rosalyn.
