HANSEN, Sharon
2021
It is with profound sadness the family of Sharon Hansen announce her passing on July 15, 2021 after a very bravely fought battle with cancer.
Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her mother Irja Hansen, her sister Karen and favourite brother-in-law Larry Larocque of Kirkland Lake, her sister Judy Hansen of Armstrong B.C. as well as her nephews Joshua (Laura) Larocque, Clinton (Stephanie) Larocque and their boys, Zachary (Victoria) Smith and her favourite niece Molly (Trevor) Smith and many cousins both near and far.
Sharon was predeceased by her father Harry Hansen in 2015.
Sharon started her almost 30-year career with the OPP as a dispatcher in Marathon and Schreiber Ontario. As technology advanced, she moved on to do all manners of clerical work at both the Schreiber and Nipigon OPP offices while living in Schreiber. After retiring, Sharon moved back to her home town of Kirkland Lake with her 2 adorable cats Sassy and Finn. She enjoyed spending time at the cottage at Butler Lake, a place that brought back wonderful memories of precious time spent with family and friends, fishing, cruising the lake, and manning the « rescue boat » while the rest of the gang swam across the lake. Sharon was not a swimmer!
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon’s name to Timiskaming Palliative Care (145 Government Road East, Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 3P4).
Many thanks to the Family Health Team, NE LHIN, The VON, Betty Smallwood and the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and support staff at Kirkland and District Hospital.
Sharon had such a wonderful support system in her friends both near and far, including the KL Bevy of Beauties, her ever so supportive neighbours with special thanks to Joe and Tanja Wojtus.
