Hannah « Anna » Baggs
“I will hold you in my heart until I can hold you again in Heaven.”
Hannah “Anna” Baggs (nee Childs) was born on April 16th, 1929 in Francois, NL to George and Berthania (nee Hardy) Childs. She married the love of her life, Harvey Baggs on May 3rd, 1949 and they were blessed with five sons.
Hannah passed peacefully at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home with her loving family by her side on January 5th, 2021 at the age of 91. She will be greatly missed by her sons, Sidney (Hilda), Wayne (Marie), Perry (Deborah), daughter-in-law Teresina Baggs, her brother, Cecil Childs, and her sisters-in-law, Rachel Meade and Esther Bobbett. Hannah thought the world of her grandchildren: Verna Walters (Geoff), Sheri Bonnell (Carey), Jennifer Wicks (Darren), Cecilia Marsden (Andy), Claudia Coombs (Mike), Amy Smith (Troy), Jonathan Baggs (Marieke), Julie Baggs, Ashley Baggs (Justin), and Terri Lynn Baggs. She was also loved by her great grandchildren: Breanna, Callie, Jayme, Ryan, Emma, Ryder, William, Georgia, Grayson, Gwendolyn, Julian, Isabelle and Sophia.
Hannah was welcomed into Heaven by her loving husband, Harvey, her parents, her sons Steven and George, grandson Dwayne Baggs and great granddaughter Jessa Marsden. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Jessie Skinner (George), Martha “Barty” Durnford (Jack), her brothers George (Myrtle) Childs and Stephen Childs, sister-in-law Sarah Childs, and her granddaughter-in-law Rebecca.
Du to Covid 19 Government restrictions, A private family visitation will take place on Thursday from St. John the Evangelist, Burgeo followed by a private funeral service on Friday, January 8th with cremation to follow, and future burial in Francois.
The family would like to extend our thanks to the staff of Clarenville, Bonavista and Corner Brook Long Term Care homes in which Hannah resided in her later years. In Hannah’s words, “I love my little hometown but at this period of my life, I need to be in a place like this. So much help here.”
In her own words from a journal she kept, Hannah writes, “Thank God for His blessings. I have a had a good life in my little hometown of Francois. I tell people it’s the most beautiful outport on the south coast. I had a happy life.” In a poem she wrote to the love of her life after he had passed, she says “We had a wonderful life together, didn’t we? With our 5 sons all handsome like you. We created a wonderful family, didn’t we? That’s what all the love we shared could do.”
