GUIDO LEONZIO
Mr. Guido Leonzio, age 88 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, February 25, 2021.
Guido was born in Fort William on January 20, 1933. He worked at various jobs before starting his career at Great Lakes Paper (Bowater), where he was a dedicated employee until retirement on June 1, 1993. Guido met Juliana Busniuk and they were married on November 10, 1956. Together they settled down on West Christina Street and started their family. In addition to their own kids, Guido and Juliana gave back for over 50 years, by fostering many children, giving them a better life. Family was Guido’s biggest passion, and he always looked forward to time spent with all of them.
Guido enjoyed golfing, camping and curling. He always liked to stay busy and loved tinkering around his yard. He was a very active member of St. Agnes Church, where he volunteered and served in many capacities. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Guido is survived by his wife of 64 years, Juliana; son Gary (Donna) and their children Jordan (great-grandchildren Korbin and Kohyn) and Jessica (Brandon); daughter Cheryl (Barry) Henry and their children Lisa (Ash) Gibbs (great-granddaughter Makayla) and James; son Richard (Sandra) and their children Allan, Christopher (great-grandson Kyran) and Amanda (Ryan) McGill; son Greg (Donna); daughter Michelle (Ron) Morriseau and their children Paul (Emma) and Kara (great-granddaughter Katrina); daughter Teri (Rob) Aiken and their children Chelsea (Travis), Kelsey and Matt (Colleen) (great-grandson Austyn); and longtime foster son, Vance Montgomery. Guido is also survived by his sister Clara Morettin as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Maria Louisa; a brother in infancy, brothers Rocco and Lou, sisters Grace, Theresa, Mary and Kay and other in-laws and relatives.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery at a later date. A recording of the service will be available on the Everest of Thunder Bay website beginning on Monday.
