In loving memory of Guido Fabio Pidutti who passed away on December 17th, 2021 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Teresa (Zanini) Pidutti of 71 years. Dear father of John (Diane) and Enio (Joanne). Precious Nonno to James (Melanie), Paul (Hailey), Joel (Marie), Dale (Bailey) and Bisnonno to Harper and Gianna. Predeceased by his sister Elisa (Guerino) Anzil. Beloved brother-in-law of Pietro and Clorinda Zanon (both predeceased), Edoardo and Cecilia Bagatto (both predeceased). Survived by brother-in-law Giuseppe “Beppi” Zanini (Vittoria predeceased).
Our dad was born in San Daniele del Friuli, Italy on March 23th, 1927 to parents Giovanni and Irene (Floreani) Pidutti (both predeceased). After the Second World War, along with his mother, he immigrated to Canada in 1949. He found immediate work at the Coniston smelter for INCO. After a year of saving, his bride-to-be Teresa Zanini would join him in Canada where they wed in 1950. When the Coniston smelter closed, he was transferred to the Copper Cliff smelter. He retired in 1985 with 35 years of service.
Our dad was an excellent wine maker and gardener. Many an hour was spent each day in his bird coop as he was a fancier and breeder of birds. He was always cooking up some deal or bird swap with his fellow “paesani” bird enthusiasts. Guido was proud of his Italian heritage and was a lifelong member of the Club Allegri and the Fogolar Furlan Club of Sudbury. He followed the Italian soccer league faithfully and enjoyed a good game of bocce. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and attended many of their hockey, baseball and soccer games over the years.
Friends and family will remember him as an easy-going, never in a hurry, content fellow with a smile on his face and always eager for a chat. A good afternoon for him was one spent in his favorite chair on a hot summer day under his apple tree with a glass of wine surrounded by friends enjoying the beauty and serenity of the day. His ultimate pleasure came in sharing home cooked meals with his family in his small home in Coniston.
A special thanks to the wonderful caregivers of the 3rd Floor Extendicare Falconbridge and Dr. Roch who treated our dad with kindness and dignity. We were blessed to have had him with us for so long and he will live on in our hearts.
Donations can be made to the Maison McCulloch Hospice or the Alzheimer Society. Funeral Mass Tuesday December 21st, 2021 at 11:00 AM, St. Paul’s Church, 38 Cedar St., Coniston ON.
