Gregory Robert Hayman (December 16, 1958 – February 15th, 2021)
Greg passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2021, surrounded by his family; wife Jennifer (nee White) of 31 and a half years, and daughters Anne Marie, Michelle and Laura. Greg joins his parents, Doug and Edith (nee Bishop) Hayman and is survived by his siblings, Geoff (Christine) and Cindy (Brian). Greg was a proud uncle to Michael (Emily), Nick (Ashley), Jenn (Nathaniel), Mark (Laura) Kari (Craig), Alex and Micheala, and great-uncle to William, Charlotte, Eleanor, Evelyn and Kira. After years of pleading by his daughters, Greg finally caved and a loveable dog named Rosie joined the family in September 2020. She brings joy and laughter to the home, and became especially fond of Greg after he won her over with some cheese.
Greg had an eclectic career which included managing a Walters Jewellers store, farming with his brother Geoff, IT management for Norfolk Power Inc., and finally project management with Hydro One. Greg was a board member of the Fire Hall Museum alongside his friend, Ray Martin. Greg loved to read, especially Tom Clancy books, enjoyed drinking Coke and Crown Royal while barbequing and watching Star Trek and Jay Leno’s Garage. He played badminton, a Hayman family trait. His coaching advice of, « Check your grip and smile, » can definitely be applied both on and off the badminton court.
Greg and his family would like to extend a huge thank you to all the members of his medical team over the past 19 months, including those at Hamilton General Hospital, Jurvinski Cancer Centre, Grand River Cancer Centre, Freeport Hospital Rehabilitation, Innomar Clinic, O.N.E. Transport, Rx Infinity, Lifelabs Home Care, CBI, Paramed, Waterloo Wellington LHIN and Innisfree House.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service has been held to celebrate Greg’s life. Those who were unable to attend are invited to view the celebration at 1 pm on February 28th, 2021 at www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada, St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation – Cardiac Care Unit and the Fire Hall Museum & Education Centre in Cambridge.
