Gloria June Franz passed away at home in Salmo, BC on January 3, 2021 at the age of 71. She was born June 13, 1949 in Kimberly, BC to John and Etta (Fandrick) Franz.
Gloria lived in several places including Creston, Cranbrook, Drumheller and Greenwood settling in Salmo with her partner Ernie in 2005.
Gloria was an avid gardener enjoying growing plants from seeds and cuttings; her forest of plants in her sunroom is a testament of her green thumb. Gloria was very artistic, with many crochet, cross stitch and sewing projects completed throughout her life. She also enjoyed refinishing old and new furniture, camping, fishing, traveling throughout BC, trips to warmer locations and spending time with family and friends. Gloria enjoyed reading and was active in The Friends of the Library in Salmo.
Gloria will be dearly missed by her partner, Ernie Hayward; her children, Doreen (Brad) and Darryl (Laurie); stepchildren Kavan (Sharon) and Chandra (Stewart); siblings, Nora, Al (Donna), Ed (Judy), Betty; grandchildren, Erika, Priscilla, Stewart, Aidan, Josh, Connor, Keiran and Eva; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Inniss, the staff and nurses at the Salmo Wellness Center, Dr. Scotland, the Oncology nurses and staff, Duncan and staff at Salmo Valley Pharmacy for all the care and positive thoughts they gave Gloria during her long fight.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will take place at a later date. Andreas Schmitz of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ was entrusted with arrangements.
