February 25, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
Glenda Graham, beloved wife of Douglas Arthur Graham, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at the age of 68 years.
Glenda was born in Winnipeg, MB on April 15, 1952. She graduated from the University of Alberta in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and in 1975 with a Bachelor of Law degree. She spent her entire legal career practicing at Macleod Dixon LLP, and was one of the first female Partners of a major law firm in Alberta, as well as appointed as Queen’s Counsel before retiring in 2011.
Glenda was a volunteer for the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter and Legal Aid Alberta. She was a great lover of photography and the outdoors and had a passion for hiking. Before her illness, she hiked or snowshoed in the Rockies every week with her hiking club, the Second Sixties. She loved to travel and had wonderful trips with her family to Turkey, China, Egypt, and most of Western Europe. In 2009, Glenda hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru with her two daughters. Glenda adored doting on her four granddaughters, who in turn loved her deeply.
Glenda will be remembered most for her incredible energy, intellect, and love for her family.
Besides her soulmate and husband of forty-four years, Doug Graham, Glenda is survived by her two sons, Blake (Talicia Wagner) of Calgary, AB and Mark (Kiersten Stieger) of Calgary, AB; daughters, Emily (Derek) Fildebrandt of Calgary, AB and Sarah Graham (Bryan Orr), of Calgary, AB; four grandchildren, Lucille, Violet, Winifred, and Edith; brother Gary Leach (Patricia Rossiter) of Calgary, AB, and her cocker spaniel Maddie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Blanche Leech and father Clifford Leech.
A Private Funeral Service will be held on, Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join Glenda’s service streamed live at (see below) on the day of the service.
