It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gladys Hazzard (nee Dowell). Gladys passed away peacefully at home with her family on Monday, October 25th 2021at the age of 90. Predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years Morris Hazzard and son Dennis. Gladys was a devoted mother and nana. She will be forever missed by her daughter Tracey. Grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth), Jennifer (Martin) and Mikaela (Derek). She enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren, Kristopher, Abbey, Rachael, James, Jack, William and Wesley. Gladys will be sadly missed by her daughter Kelly and fondly remembered by her grandchildren Brock, Brittanie, Bailey and great grandson Bentley.
Mom was very loving and caring. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She dedicated her life to her family and always put others before herself. She never missed the chance to go and watch the children play hockey and cheer them on. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
Gladys loved growing up on the Hamilton Beach with her brothers and sisters, as well as her nieces and nephews. She often shared many wonderful memories of the times they had growing up on Waverly Avenue. Gladys also spent many summers with her family at the cottage on Baptiste Lake.
Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (1919 King St. E. between Rosedale and Cochrane) on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 10:30am-12:30pm. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Eugene’s Parish (232 Queenston Rd.) at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Following the cemetery, family and friends are welcome to gather to celebrate Gladys. Details will be shared at the service. If you wish to attend, RSVP must be done for both the visitation and Funeral Mass separately through www.dermodys.com or by calling 905-388-4141. Social distancing and masks are required.
